The Menu Of Pellegrino
Il Menu Del Pellegrino - Via Francigena
The Via Francigena that used to connect Canterbury to Rome, is a historic itinerary, a majestic route that has been travelled by thousands of pilgrims going to Rome.

This route attests the importance of the pilgrimage in the medieval age and what it used to represent as it had to be mainly walked for penitential reasons, with a minimum journey of 20 kilometres per day. The main attraction for the devotees were three: first of all Rome, place of the martyrdom of the Saints Peter and Paul; Santiago de Compostela, were the apostle Saint Jacob decided to rest in peace and of course Jerusalem, in the Holy Land.

It is important to underline that these pilgrims roads were also intensively used for trade and businesses and were used by the armies as they were moving.
